DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport – Arusha

Morning:
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where your guide will greet you and transfer you to Meru View Lodge in Arusha.

Afternoon:
Relax at the lodge or explore Arusha’s vibrant town (a taxi is required for excursions). Visit local markets, museums, or simply enjoy the serene surroundings.

Evening:
Attend a trek briefing to meet your guides and discuss the upcoming adventure. Enjoy a welcome dinner and prepare for the journey ahead.

Day 2: Arusha – Lemosho Gate (2,385 m) – Big Tree Camp (2,780 m)

Morning:
After breakfast, drive to Lemosho Gate (2,385 m) for park registration. Begin your trek through the lush rainforest surrounding Kilimanjaro.

Afternoon:
Follow a moderately steep trail to Big Tree Camp (2,780 m), immersing yourself in the dense forest and its fresh, invigorating air.

Evening:
Arrive at Big Tree Camp, nestled in a tranquil forested area. Enjoy a hearty dinner and rest for the night.

Day 3: Big Tree Camp (2,780 m) – Shira Camp 2 (3,900 m)

Morning:
Start your trek on a narrow trail, ascending through the rainforest. As you climb, the forest transitions into heath and moorland, offering stunning views.

Afternoon:
After 4-5 hours of trekking, reach Shira Camp 1 for lunch. Continue hiking an additional 250 meters to Shira Camp 2 (3,900 m), where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of Kibo Peak.

Evening:
Settle in at Shira Camp 2 and witness a breathtaking sunset over the mountain. Enjoy dinner and rest for the next day’s adventure.

Day 4: Shira Camp 2 (3,900 m) – Lava Tower (4,640 m) – Barranco Camp (3,960 m)

Afternoon:
Trek through the Barranco Valley, surrounded by alpine desert landscapes and unique flora like giant senecio and lobelia plants. Arrive at Barranco Camp (3,960 m) after 6-7 hours of trekking.

Evening:
Enjoy dinner at one of Kilimanjaro’s most scenic camps, with stunning views of the valley and surrounding peaks.

Day 5: Barranco Camp (3,960 m) – Karanga Camp (4,035 m)

Morning:
Tackle the Barranco Wall, a steep but rewarding climb that may require some scrambling. Your guides will assist you in navigating this section safely.

After conquering the wall, trek along a ridge with panoramic views of Kibo’s southern glacier. Continue to Karanga Camp (4,035 m), your destination for the day.

Evening:

Day 6: Karanga Camp (4,035 m) – Barafu Camp (4,640 m)

Morning:
From Stella Point, make the final 1-2 hour climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Celebrate your achievement at the “Roof of Africa” and witness a spectacular sunrise.

Afternoon:
Descend to Barafu Camp for a warm lunch, then continue to Mweka Camp (3,080 m) for the night.

Evening:
Reflect on your summit success over dinner and enjoy a well-deserved rest.

Day 8: Mweka Camp (3,080 m) – Mweka Gate (1,630 m) – Arusha

Receive your summit certificate at Mweka Gate and transfer back to Meru View Lodge in Arusha.
