Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After an early breakfast, depart Kampala and travel west toward Mgahinga Gorilla National Park via the Kabale–Kisoro road. Enjoy scenic views of rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and picturesque countryside along the journey. Stop for lunch en route before continuing to the park located in Uganda’s spectacular Virunga region.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Cultural Experience

Today is the highlight of your safari. After breakfast, head into the forest for an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience. Accompanied by experienced guides and trackers, hike through the forest until you locate a mountain gorilla family. Once found, spend up to one hour observing these gentle giants as they feed, play, and interact in their natural habitat.

In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience. Walk along an 8 km trail with local guides who share insights into their traditional forest lifestyle, including hunting techniques, honey gathering, and fire-making. The experience concludes with cultural performances and storytelling in the historic Garama Cave.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trek & Lake Mutanda Boat Ride

Begin the day with a guided trek through the bamboo forests of Mgahinga in search of the rare and lively golden monkeys. Watching these playful primates leap through the trees is a memorable wildlife experience.

In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the scenic Lake Mutanda, surrounded by dramatic volcanic landscapes and peaceful island views.

Day 4: Volcano Hiking Adventure

Prepare for a full-day hiking adventure in the Virunga Mountains. Choose between hiking Mount Gahinga, Mount Muhavura, or Mount Sabinyo, each offering different levels of challenge and spectacular panoramic views. On clear days, the summit views stretch across Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park & Game Drive

After breakfast, depart for Lake Mburo National Park, traveling through the scenic Kigezi Highlands and open savannah landscapes. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch.

Later in the afternoon, head out for a game drive to spot wildlife including zebras, giraffes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, buffaloes, and a variety of bird species.

Day 6: Return to Kampala or Kigali

After breakfast, check out and begin your return journey to Kampala or Kigali. Along the way, you may stop at the Uganda Equator Crossing for photos and local craft shopping. Arrive in the afternoon, marking the end of your memorable 6-day gorillas, golden monkeys, and wildlife safari.
